Inspire’s Back to [High] School appeal lets young people know it’s OK to ask for help when they’re going through a tough time. A donation of just $44 will send a ReachOut.com pack to an Australian high school of your choice.

 

 

 

Tragically the leading cause of death among young Australians is suicide. Our research tells us that only 30% of the young people who need professional help with their mental health get any kind of help at all. This leaves a staggering 70% of young people in need of support and information left to try and figure out their happiness, wellbeing, and health for themselves.

To tackle this issue the Inspire Foundation has worked directly with young people to develop ReachOut.com. This provides information, support and resources to help young people improve their understanding of mental health issues, increase their help seeking skills and ensure they know they’re not alone.

A former Youth Ambassador on finding ReachOut.com:

“When you are suffering a mental illness, there are still a lot of people who don’t really understand that you don’t bring it upon yourself, or you don’t manufacture it yourself. When I Googled youth suicide and tripped over the Reach Out website, I found stories of what other young people went through, and being able to read those stories made me feel like I wasn’t going through this alone.”

We provide our services online because it offers young people anonymity; it offers help and support 24 hours a day; it is accessible to young Australians in remote regions and it allows us to help thousands at any one time. The more support we receive, the more we can work to ensure ReachOut.com is there for all young Australians.

  • $24 Will ensure that ReachOut.com remains relevant to young people and is closely aligned with their needs and interests. Your gift will allow ReachOut.com to directly engage one young person in a feedback session to improve the service.
  • $44 Will help us ensure that every high school student knows they are not alone when they’re going through a tough time. Your gift will allow us to send a ReachOut.com promotion kit filled with ReachOut.com promotional materials to one Australian high school.
  • $119 Will ensure that young people are able to connect with peers, give or receive support and positive advice and develop strategies for managing adversity and seeking help though the ReachOut.com Forums. Your gift will pay for a full day’s monitoring of the forums by a trained moderator.
